Why Île d'Orléans Inspires Photographers

Île d'Orléans is a must-see tourist destination located just minutes from Quebec City, Canada — a jewel of the St. Lawrence River.

Photographers and painters have drawn inspiration from these magnificent bucolic landscapes that inspire dreams. Take the time, observe, listen to the silence, photograph the moment.

This photogenic island in the province of Quebec reveals to visitors rolling countryside landscapes and a rich history dating back to the 17th century. The island is known for its ancestral homes and cultural heritage, which bear witness to the history of French America.

A tour around Île d'Orléans is an experience not to be missed. You can take Chemin Royal counterclockwise to cross the island's six charming villages, ranked among the most beautiful in Quebec.

During this visit, you can discover the taste "of the island" through gourmet treasures, such as vineyards where you can taste organic wines, chocolate from the famous Chocolaterie de l'Île d'Orléans, original microbrewery beers brewed on the island, jams and syrups made with locally grown fruit, cheeses aged by local producers, so fragrant wildflower honey, and much more.

If you visit the island during harvest season, you can pick the famous organic strawberries of Île d'Orléans and other small fruit, such as raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and blackcurrants. Local farms also sell other fresh local produce (potatoes, pumpkins, squash, apples, etc.) at roadside stands.

Île d'Orléans is a place where history, terroir and natural beauty meet. It is an ideal place to relax, explore and enjoy local flavours, and to admire the works of local artisans presented in the welcoming boutiques scattered across the island.
